Now that I think about it ignorance does get a pass. A free pass to the library. Education is the key. Ignorance is suicide.

Hey I don't mean to sound condescending when I say this but I think you sound extremely intelligent. I just want to respond to your comment on my blog. He may not have known where the song came from or what it has truly meant but that's the point of the blog. The utter ignorance of our people. Although I don't truly see Black Americans as my people in America we are all lumped together because of our skin tone.

For example: Chicken Noodle Soup. Not only do I call this song and ode to poverty it is like an ode to minstrelsy. Shucking and jiving dancing for white people to laugh at us in the privacy of their own homes. And I know that the world ended when unarguably one of the most influential black women in America sucked and jived with other black folks on her show: Oprah.

To me ignorance does not get a pass. And upon learning the true meaning of certain nursery rhymes, the meaning of the word picnic (pick a nigger) and dancing, our people should go out and educate themselves, instead of shrugging their shoulders and saying "Oh well." Thanks for taking the time to read this.
