Does anyone know where I could find A Haitian Restaurant in Monmouth County? Or at least a Haitian Bakery. I move from the the Orange area an now find myself having to drive all the way back up that way to get a decent Haitian meal. From what I've seen nothing is listed in the phone books or on-line. Someone please help me. Oh and yes I know the simple solution would be to cook it myself, but I don't know how to. I only have myself to blame for that.

By the way if you need recipes you can always try http://www.everythinghaitian.com/Haitian_Cuisine.asp  and http://www.islandflave.com/recipes/haiti.html. Good luck!
Thanks for the recipes, I'm sure they will come in handy. I also heard about a a place in Asbury Park. Someone told me its on Main St. and called "Brothers" or some thing like that. I drove by there and saw nothing. I actually saw a large amount of spanish restaurants no Haitian one. I was told that it was across from the "Family Dollar" at 623 Main St. I didn't see a thing. I will go back and try again but its not looking good. I think that I will have to resort to walking down the street and ask the most Haitian I see. Or I can find a Haitian church and ask around there.

There are no haitian restaurants around where I live. There's just a bakery. That lady can make a mean cake. She made the cake for my cuz wedding. There need to be more haitian restaurants around south jersey.

I am in the exact boat as you. I hear they have some in Asbury Park but I have yet to have someone tell me where exactly. lol I still drive up to Orange too. So if you can find the answer please let me know I would really appreciate it.

Ummm. hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guy I can understand, but you????? come on. You've got to learn to cook haitian food love. It's a very important part of our culture that your missing. Find a friend and watch her cook, like you were doing before, go online and get some recipes and mix it up after you've tried it. Food  is all about experimenting. Haitian food is all about experimenting and loving what you make (though sometimes what you make may not be what you want)

You guys are in luck! I have family that owns a Haitian resturant in Essex County don't know how far that is from ya'll. I put my life on it that you'll love the food. My aunt lived in haiti most her life and moved here to open a resturant, so your getting authentic Haitian food. Not no american/haitian crap that's been popin up lately... I'm having the same problem since I moved to Tampa, FL there isn't one Haitian bakery nor resturant around here, so I substitute with hispanic resturants...but it's not the same...I pray to meet a haitian woman sometime soon before I leave this earth ;o( Leave me a message and I'll send you the info for that resturant in Elizabeth, NJ if ya'll want...trust me it's worth the drive! O' the resturant is called " T'-Maan's "

It's time to celebrate!!! I found a Haitian Restaurant in Asbury Park, NJ. It isn't as close as I wanted but its much easier than going up to North Jersey. Essex county doesn't know how good they have it. I spent over a month looking for this place. Its called Brother's Deli & Caribbean Foods. I didn't see any deli in there but thats just fine by me as long as I can get a decent plate of Haitian food. You'll find it on Main st across from two dollar stores; Family Dollar & 99¢ store. Directly in between the two... Its easy to miss though. The sign is real small, up real high and blends in with the background too. Hopefully this helps anyone else looking for a Haitian Restaurant in the area. I know it helped me.
